Following a successful nationwide appeal, Condor Ferries and top travel presenter, Simon Calder have selected one lucky budding travel writer for the opportunity of a lifetime with an extraordinary travel writing job.

The role sees Holly Eddings, 21, become Condor Ferries Channel Companion – a dream job for anyone breaking into the exciting world of travel writing. Holly will be paid to spend the next two months visiting the beautiful Channel Islands of Jersey, Guernsey and Herm, alongside St Malo in France and will write up her experiences in a travel blog.

With more graduates than ever wrestling for every job, this opportunity will give Holly the experience required to help springboard her career. The sought-after job includes mentor training provided by Simon Calder, who will be giving Holly two master classes before and after her trips to share tips on how to write captivating travel articles and how to get the most out of excursions, gleaned from his 25 years of expertise in the field.

Holly, who has just completed her degree in magazine journalism and feature writing at Southampton Solent University, commented: “I am absolutely thrilled to become the Channel Companion. It’s a brilliant opportunity to put my passion for travel writing into practice and take in all the experiences that each of the destinations offers. It’s amazing to be getting advice from Simon Calder to kick start my journey in becoming the best travel writer and Channel Companion I can be. I’m really looking forward to sharing my adventures with everyone who will read my blog and exploring the destinations I’m sent to.”

Simon Calder said: “Holly was a clear winner and holds potential for a promising career in travel writing, it was enjoyable to read her entry which stood out and grabbed your attention.
