Twenty-Something Travel is 2 years old today (well, err actually it was 2 years old Saturday but I was busy hanging out at a swim up pool bar in Mexico, so we can just observe it today)! Can you believe that? Me either.

Usually when I hit a big milestone like this I get all sappy and talk about how this blog has grown more than I ever could have imagined, how its given me so many rewards (link) and how grateful I am to you guys for reading.

If you could do it all over again Caz, would you still become a primary school teacher?

I was out to lunch with some of my oldest friends and we had just been sharing horror stories of teaching in Australiamine, those of some other teachers there, and those that had been heard through the hallways at the local schools.

I had to pause for a moment to think about my answer; an answer that would either show a life filled with regret or one with gratitude for the experiences I had been served.

There are plenty of things I wish I did choose instead.

The Veendam guests have an opportunity to take a walking tour of Ile Royale which takes approximately 2 hours. The islands used to be a prison and are famous from the movie the Papillion. While walking through the island, one can see the 1928 lighthouse, a helipad, and a modern radio/radar tracking station of the European Space Agency where scientists monitor Ariane rocket launches from Kourou on the French Guiana mainland. You can also visit the ruins of the prisoners’ quarters, a former convent and a hospital. <
