I don’t know which annoys me more: the man in front of me in the security queue who has no idea what is expected of him (‘I have to take my lap top out?…I have to remove my belt?…I have to take my jacket off?…I have to produce my bag of 100ml liquid bottles?); or the fact that much of this ridiculous security circus is pointless and unnecessary.
To start with the bewildered man first: he looks a reasonably intelligent business man – this can’t be the first time that he’s flown, so how can he be so unprepared for the security check?
If he was prepared, it’s a process that might take 30 seconds…unprepared I have to wait behind him for endless minutes. As regards doing away with much of this faffing about – we were promised new scanners at airports which could identify rogue liquids which would make the whole 100ml part of the check superfluous.Well, it looks as if the 100ml bottle thing is going to be with us for some time yet. Mention the word “tourist” and you can be forgiven for recalling the expectorations, feeble linguistic skills and criminally small swimming briefs of this homogenous traveller “race.” But not everyone’s like that.
In August, Orbitz for Business the corporate travel brand of Orbitz Worldwide introduced Orbitz for Business Meetings, a new booking channel developed in conjunction with StarCite, a leading provider of Web-based solutions to manage corporate meetings and events.
But, as good as it feels to tout the latest business-oriented developments fresh from the Orbitz umbrella, there are lots of other great tech devices including apps, programs and gizmos that can also help make that next meeting go more smoothly.
